Newsletter of Eric Friedman - Issue #8
So Dad, its good #8 - thanks for joining the ride. I love getting random reply notes to my newsletter and even hearing people forward them around. It is great encouragement - thanks for being here.
On my mind
There are many times where the thing going on in your head, is not the thing going on in their head. I have personally experienced this and its always worth clearing the air. But what happens when you can't or the time hasn't come yet? How do you deal with the gap between knowing and worrying? I am trying to be more upfront more often, but thinking about the times this hasn't been the case. I also think about the times as a manager that I have been on the OTHER side of this. Not very insightful but it has been on my mind lately.
People leave managers, but they join missions.
Startups are filled with bad managers. However in the beginning, founders are out telling their story to anyone that will listen. In the early days its clear that they have to recruit the folks who will "build the machine" as I like to say - these folks join missions.
Questions I am thinking about:
What does it mean to join a mission?
What does it mean when you are working without a mission?
Do people quit missions and managers?

I started using Vimcal recently and wanted to share my thoughts on this new calendar tool. Its $15 a month, but its well worth it if you are scheduling as much as I do.

NFT Collection Failures Begin to Mount in Flashback to ICO Bust — www.bloomberg.com
"On average, one in three NFT collections have essentially expired, with little or no trading activity, blockchain analytics firm Nansen found. Another third are trading below the amount it cost issuers to mint the tokens."
My Thoughts: The way I think about this is a little bit like websites. There are millions of sites, and some are exponentially more interesting, valuable, and useful than others. It does not mean that the barriers to creating pages should be higher - quite the opposite. The proliferation of NFTs vs. Web Pages isn't quick the same but its close.
Run your first StarkNet node — mirror.xyz
Thanks to the great work of Equilibrium and Starkware teams we are now able to run our own nodes on StarkNet, helping to keep the network secure and the data accurate. This tutorial will guide you through the process of setting up your first StarkNet node.
My Thoughts: I am excited to get my own BTC and StarkNet nodes up and running and want to make this a Q2 project. I have a old Raspberri Pi and excited to get this going.
