I created the following image with the prompt; a “futuristic Möbius strip in space” and used MidJourney 4 and a few revisions to get what I wanted. It came out better than I could have expected and has a strong Halo vibe for those that played.
Thinking about AI and how much its taken over the zeitgeist. So many fun and interesting new tools and platforms that are coming out. So much opportunity and creativity that is possible. I seemingly ignored most (all?) of the claims in the past about AI because the reality is that it is not really artificial intelligence at all. I don’t think we have reached sentience or AGI at all, but rather these tools are now helpful. Thats a far cry from previous claims or platforms that have come out.
Jumping into MidJourney in Discord isn’t simple, but it solves a problem. Using GPT3 is a quick and easy way to see what is coming. Using DALLE is a simple way to turn text into pictures. You can squint and see a better future here.
On my mind
Twitter has been a place I frequent every day for well over a decade. I wonder what will happen, and am reminded that owning your own voice, name, and platform are important. I never really thought about what could happen if Twitter “goes away” but this weeks discussions and swirls from Elon Musk hinting at going bankrupt I am thinking about this archive. If you want to download your Twitter Archive follow these simple steps.
Crypto has been top of mind for many this week. I will let you read the in depth articles and headlines everywhere (and I mean everywhere) about the epic meltdown of FTX. I dive into this below but its interesting to think about what it means, and how long its about to be on ice.
Tools I use
TickTick for tasks has been amazing. I converted over from the fabled Microsoft ToDo (but really Wunderlist which was acquired by MSFT) after it didn’t seem to be fitting my flow. TickTick has active development, a decent plan for ~$30 a year, and it has actually kept me on track. What more can you ask for?
What I am writing
Crypto On ice - I will leave the sensational headlines to others. In this blog post I wrote I am trying to figure out how long the crypto winter will last and what effect this FTX situation has had on crypto. 2-6 year seems the consensus - how does that sit with you?
Lessons learned in a downturn - Published back in August after some major speed bumps, I think its helpful now more than ever to share today. There are a number of layoffs and changes happening and this is a good time to surface this. At the time it seemed like a single, one off event, in the tech world - but now the contagion is widespread. What is most interesting about this piece and the time I wrote it is that it doesn’t have anything to do with the company I was talking about and the advice is really timeless (I read it again and its relevant)
Celebrate your wins
I am a big fan of celebrating wins. One of the best questions I have in my coaching question list is “Thats great, how are you celebrating this win?” I rarely get a clear answer.
With that in mind I am celebrating my wins when I can, and those of others too - if you have a win you want to share reply here and let me know!
